DESCRIPTION: Small Arms - Merwin & Bray cupfire revolver, manufactured approximately 1863, .30 cup caliber, exposed trigger, grip strap with matching serial number and even patina, brass frame with original silver-plated finish mostly intact, cylinder stamped "PATENTED. JULY 12.1859 & JULY 21. 1863," original rosewood grips, blued 3-1/4 inch octagonal barrel with brass sight blade, top stamped "MERWIN & BRAY. FIRE-ARMS. CO. NY," all matching serial numbers including the rosewood grips and cylinder, s#7666. A fabulous piece from the US Civil War era. Includes a black hard plastic carry/storage case.
CONDITION: Good action and timing; excellent overall cosmetic condition, good bore with strong rifling, good bluing to barrel with wear at high edges, several small dings on frame and barrel as well as scattered areas of oxide, pitting and finish loss; brass trigger guard and grip strap with several light dings; rosewood grips with numerous small dings as well as a small chip from the left side grip.
